Team South Africa wins LG’s global Master Chef competition

AinsleyLG Electronics, leader of the industry in innovative home appliances have announced the winners of the LG Global Master Chef Competition. The South African team of Jaco Pietr Willem Dreyer and Evgeni Igorevich Omeltchenko won the title at the LG Life Tastes Good Championship Global Final. The award was the company’s second annual premier amateur culinary competition. The competition took place at Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on the 11th of November.

Sixteen teams of participants from the national and regional competitions in Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa prepared their delicacies according to competition rules & regulations this year. Thirteen countries hosted the LG Life Tastes Good Championship 2009 national and regional competitions. These countries include France, US, Spain, Italy, India, Turkey, Thailand, Korea, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa etc.

These participants prepared and served delicacies using organic ingredients and LG dishes with high level of hygiene and energy savings. They were assessed and judged based on the presentation of the menu, taste and relevance to the competition’s theme. WACS used and Le Cordon Bleu had evaluated the criteria used which helped improve the objectiveness and professionalism of the competition.

The eventual winners were successful because they were able to impress the judges by maximizing the use of LG’s Light Wave Technology by preparing a creative menu which improved the natural, healthy and rich flavors of the ingredients present in the recipe.

“This Competition, which is now in the 2nd year offers a succinct opportunity for Home Grown chefs regardless of cultural and Linguistic barrier”. These were the words of Young-ha Lee, The President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company.

With the help of the Competition, LG hopes to showcase its cooking appliances as ideal and equipped for preparing delicious recipes of any culture.
